The plot is similar to the original in that your goal is to take out the invading aliens and defend the colonists from abduction, but this time, you have over 20 missions each with its own objectives that span the entire solar system. The game play is pretty decent and the mobility of the ships is nice, allowing you to perform classic dog-fight maneuvers like barrel rolls, loops and spinning reversals designed to evade enemies.
There are many things to like about this game including the general ease of playing the game. You don't need to read the entire manual to start flying and shooting down enemies. The game also introduces tanks and ground units that you can pick up and place strategically around your bases. Another great feature is the ability to earn points based on your performance that you can use to upgrade your ship with over 30 advanced weapons including: salvo missile launcher; fireball launcher and gas launcher.
Perhaps the nicest feature is the addition of multiplayer co-op mode, allowing you and a friend to work together to complete levels. If you can't get along with your friend, there's always competitive mode, where you can take each other on.
Overall, the only negative thing that I can say about this game is that it should have been longer. Even though the levels are fairly short, the fact that each of the levels has potentially different objectives required to complete, keeps the game somewhat challenging. Once you complete the campaign mode, there's always multiplayer mode to keep the game interesting for a bit. You can press F2 on your keyboard although many browsers will not understand you pressing F2 or try to do other actions , or you can use the virtual keyboard next to the screen to press the "ADVANCE" button.

I remember spending lots of quarters on this game when it first came out in the arcades and it quickly became a favorite of mine. Of course once it's sequel "Stargate" was released my quarters all went to that game. It's so nice now having emulators and this wonderful internet arcade, because now I can relive all of those great gaming memories without the quarters. Once you get used to the keyboard controls on this one, it's every bit as fun as the arcade original and every bit as challenging and addicting.

Then it starts displaying graphics from the game the way it looked in the arcade, and you're ready to play Press the "5" key to add credits in order to play. It's the same thing as putting a quarter in the machine. You'll hear the game music start.
Press the "1" Key to actually start the game. The controls are just terrible. What's even worse is that due to the placement of the active keys, it's easy to hit the WINDOWS key on many keyboards, and then your start menu comes up and the browser screen is no longer receiving inputs from your keyboard.
The game continues but you aren't controlling it - i. I wonder if it will work with a joystick controller. I haven't tried it yet.
